Incredible writing...I loved every word. I have seldom read anything that "felt" so effortless and just seemed to pour out. I am sure her writing took much thought and work, but reads so smoothly and easily. Great read!

Billie Sue Mosiman is a talented fiction writer. Needless to say, her talent shines through in her memoir as well. I have followed her blog, reading each installment the day it is posted. I feel I know the characters, Bigmama and Bigdaddy are life-like and their personalities shine through the words. There are funny moments, like when young Billie Sue was almost eaten my turkeys, heartbreaking moments, the grisly murder of her aunt and uncle, and terrifying moments, like when Billie's Mama left her and her little brother alone for three days with only $20. I could see that little girl, curled into a ball with a butcher knife clutched in her hand, and I was scared for her. This is the talent of Billie Sue Mosiman.

The memoir shows what truly shaped Billie Sue Mosiman into the woman and writer she is today. She was a curious child, wondering what made people tick, what drove people to do the things they did. And this came out in her writing. If you are a writer, read the latest installment on her blog--the chapter entitled THE MAKING OF A WRITER. I think all writers should be able to relate, and maybe find a little inspiration there, too.
