The future of England balanced on the outcome of one fight—but who were these great players whom history remembers as heroes and villains?
In 1485, the Battle of Bosworth marked an epoch in the lives of two great houses the house of York fell to the ground when Richard III died on the field of battle, and the house of Tudor rose from the massacre to reign for the next hundred years. Michael Jones, co-author of The King's Grave The Search for Richard III, rewrites this landmark event in English history. He shifts our perspective of its heroes and villains and puts Richard firmly back into the context of his family and his times.

Bosworth 1485 Psychology of a Battle Michael Jones Books Reviews
The book is a non-sentimental look at Richard III and some of his actions before his last battle. It is interesting and organized.
I learned many things that I did not know, and i enjoyed reading the book.
Very good study of the battle and events leading up to it, especially in view of recent discoveries which have revealed that the traditional site of the battle has probably been wrong, and of course, with the discovery of Richard's remains a few years ago, this book is of timely interest. The author implies his belief that Richard was probably responsible for the deaths of Edward V and his brother in the tower, but the quality of his research forgives this common assumption.
If the War of Roses is of interest to you, and the Tudor bunch and all their machinations, then this book and "The Winter King", by Penn and "Graven with Diamonds" by Schulman are "must reads".
The author redraws the picture of Richard III as a heroic figure and reimagines the fateful battle at Bosworth Field.
I am not sure how anyone even an experienced psychiatrist could possibly reconstruct and describe the character and motivation of a 500 year old historical figure who's biography such as it is was was written or at least edited by his enemies. But who can say he is wrong. It is an entertaining read and who knows it may be closer to reality than other accounts or not!
I heard the author on a radio show and really enjoyed the interview. My boyfriend is a history buff so I bought this for him, he seems to be enjoying it. Thank you!
If you are interested in Richard III I think you'll really like this book. You need a basic understanding of the War of the Roses, Richard III and the Battle of Bosworth before you read this book, so if you are learning about Richard for the first time I would suggest reading a good general book or books on those three subjects first. This book has a large number of really good color and black and white photos and drawings, several maps, a family tree from Edward III, and a War of the Roses timeline.
very interesting book it gives a new insight on the battle, that helped change history . I had an ancestor that was ther and fought in the battle ,so the book helped the battle come to life.
